What happened with Fattori and Riquelme?

Federico Fattori, 33, was named in the Apertura 2025 Team of the Season and joined Talleres after River Plate’s failed attempt to sign him. The Millonario offered $2.5 million nearly a month ago, but Argentinos Juniors rejected the bid. The central midfielder’s full rights now belong to La T, who gave him a deal until December 2029.

Alongside him, Talleres added Román Riquelme, 23. The center-back made 24 official appearances for Argentinos Juniors and scored once. La T bought 80% of his rights and signed him until December 2030.

Why it matters for Argentinos Juniors

Fattori’s exit leaves a gap in the Bicho’s midfield. Over 56 games, the veteran brought leadership, hierarchy, and experience. His replacement won’t come easy. Argentinos Juniors must find a suitable replacement in the transfer window to fill his role in the Clausura.

Román Riquelme, meanwhile, had potential at Argentinos Juniors, but his rights were sold at a discount. The La Paternal club loses another young player with first-team minutes.

Both new signings trained under Jorge Sampaoli on Monday. La T is now focused solely on the 2026 Clausura after crashing out of the Copa Argentina on May 20 against Atlético Tucumán. With no continental competitions in play, the priority is points in the domestic league.
